Opened August 2024! Mosaic Animal Emergency is a new, locally owned, 24/7 emergency hospital in Santa Fe, NM.

❤️Before and after❤️. Poor Jango got more than he bargained for this week after trying to make friends with a porcupine 🦔. Porcupines live in trees (even desert trees!) and are covered in over 30,000 quills. Contrary to popular belief, porcupines can't "shoot" or throw their quills. Instead, the quills are so lightly attached, they come off easily when a predator encounters them. When the quills make contact with a predator, their design allows them to work their way into the skin at a rate of 1 mm an hour!

Thankfully our amazing team jumped right in and Jango is now quill free and feeling better 💙🩷🧡💚

Just because you're a super naughty puppy who ate a bottle of human medicine, doesn't mean your ER experience has to be scary. By giving our patients something to do while they are with us, we can decrease their fear, anxiety and stress. Decreasing stress has been shown to speed healing, which hopefully means shorter hospital stays. It's just another way #mosaicanimal is redefining the practice of veterinary emergency medicine ❤️. One cheesy smudge at a time.
